Have you ever tried to calculate how long it takes to download one file with a capacity of 1 GB? Usually, it takes almost 10 minutes. Even then, when the network connection is pretty good. If the link is slow, it can take more than half an hour.
Or we take the example of a simple case when we want to share files between cellphones. It can be through chat applications or media transfer applications. Usually, before the file can be opened, it takes a few minutes to download it.
Depending on the size, if the file is only a few megabytes, it can be faster than a gigabyte file. We have to be patient, especially if we are still using the current generation network—4 G, 3G, 2G networks, etc.
Later, when the 5G network can be enjoyed worldwide, the problem of data transfer speeds like this will no longer exist. Because the 5G network makes it possible to transfer data at speeds 100 times faster than the current generation, it could even be more, as reported by some media about the development of 5G technology.
The presence of 5G is undoubtedly limited to meeting data transfer needs and preparing future technology known as the Internet of Things (IoT), where various devices will be connected and have artificial intelligence. Hence, they can understand human needs.
What we see from science-fiction films may be realized in the future. Cars can run alone, traffic systems run automatically, hospitals, city planning, and other sophistication.
All that sophistication, of course, requires better network technology, which can be accessed in all locations without signal availability constraints. A network that can support the data transfer process at maximum speed without a hitch.
Scientists and companies engaged in technology are trying to develop 5G technology. Massive investments were made to support various researches related to the development of 5G networks.
As reported by the techworld.com page, the 5G network is still in the development stage. It has not yet been launched for general use. So many companies continue to form partnerships and promise to provide research funds related to 5G networks.
Companies listed as severe about developing technology include Nokia, Qualcomm, Samsung, Ericson, and BT. Each shows the focus of development efforts in different fields.
Nokia and Ericson are more focused on 5G platforms built for mobile operators. At the same time, Qualcomm and Samsung tend to focus on hardware, such as 5G modems and 5G routers.
Are there currently any countries using 5G networks? There may be, but it is still in the testing phase and continues to be developed.
The kompas.com page reported that Verizon, a telecommunications company and cellular operator in the United States, had launched a 5G network. And, this is claimed to be the world's first commercial 5G service.
However, unfortunately, the 5G network is not evenly distributed throughout the United States but is only spread in four cities. Los Angeles, Sacramento, Houston, and Indianapolis are the first cities to have the opportunity to experience 5G network services.

5G Network at a Glance
The name 5G is pinned to indicate that this technology is the fifth generation after we know that the last age that is still used today is 4G. Number 5 in “5G” shows that this generation has several advantages over the previous generation.
As stated by a senior technology expert at Huawei who was quoted on the teknorus.com page, Michael Lemke said, “The Internet will be reborn in the form of wireless. You'll always get a signal, even when you're on the edge of cell radio range.”
Interestingly, this network will accommodate more devices connected to it. The risks of connection drops, overloads, to data volume limitations will rarely be encountered because 5G networks use radio waves.
The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has made regulations regarding the use of these radio wave frequencies. Each is divided into different frequencies according to the type of communication, such as aeronautical and maritime navigation signals, television broadcasts, and mobile data.
In general, 5G networks require antennas or some wave transmitter installed at several points with a certain radius. These antennas will transmit waves to the area around the transmitting antenna.
Existing devices will then be connected to the current 5G network. Allows to communicate with each other and perform functions automatically according to the settings that have been made on the device.
Indeed, the advantages are enormous when the 5G network is implemented. Humans will be significantly facilitated by technological sophistication that can reduce the workload in specific fields. However, besides implementing the 5G network, there are also disadvantages. In addition to requiring a high cost to make it happen, likely, it will also cause other problems.
For now, it may not be clear what the advantages and disadvantages of using a 5G network are, but it's a good idea to get ready from now on to welcome this new technology.

From several references that I read, none of them specifically mention the name of the inventor of the 5G network. Most show how companies have put research into developing the technology.
Although many companies have finally succeeded in conducting trials, they do not necessarily claim to have invented 5G networks. So, until I wrote this article, I couldn't be sure who the person who created the 5G network was.
5G network in Indonesia
We can see the proof of the 5G network in Indonesia at the 2018 Asian Games event. Even though it is just a trial, it can already prove that Indonesia has the potential to accept this technology.
Navya Autonom Shuttle or also known as a driverless car, is a product that was tested using the 5G network at the Asian Games yesterday. This car is made by a company from France and brought to Indonesia to collaborate between Kominfo and Telkomsel for the first trial of 5G network technology in Indonesia.
The shape of the car is unique, slightly different from the vehicle's shape in general. The front and rear body shapes are the same, so it's hard to tell which one is the front and the back. While the general shape is similar to a minibus, this car has a maximum passenger capacity of 15 people.
Inside this car, a 15-inch LCD screen provides an overview of the route map. To run this car, the operator only needs to touch the finger on the LCD screen to mark the point of the location to be addressed. Keep in mind that the maximum speed of this car is only 25 km / h, and the distance depends on the battery life. On average, the battery can last up to 9 hours on a single charge.
The operator is also provided with an emergency stop button to anticipate if things go wrong through this screen. In addition to the screen, an emergency stop button is also provided near the passenger seat.
This car is also equipped with several sensors on the sides. This sensor cannot capture environmental conditions, then be transferred to be translated into an information system that will give orders to the car.
So the data captured by this sensor is quite large. Of course, it also requires transfer speed and interpretation to be processed quickly to become informed so that the car's movement can be real-time following the data information that is immediately captured on the spot.
This process requires the role of the 5G network. Because when the internet of things era begins to appear, all devices will be connected using the 5G network. The ability to transfer data so fast will be the leading technology to realize this kind of sophistication. Of course, there will be other, more sophisticated technologies.
What about Indonesia? Of course, it takes readiness from various sectors. Both in terms of regulations governing the implementation of 5G networks, cellular operators, device providers, etc. Without the readiness of these parties, Indonesia will never experience the 5G network.
